Bella Rae is a new magazine whose motto is value, beauty and purpose. It is for teens and young women and promotes real stories, real people and real issues. I read the first issue from cover to cover and loved it. Issue 2 is available now. You can find it at your local newsagent (ask for it if they don't have it) or you can order it online. They also have a blog - check it out here.
I recently had someone run up the back of me while I was at a roundabout. Even though I was in shock I got the other driver's name and phone number and took a photo of his license plate. Thankfully I was not at fault so he had to pay for the repairs to my car. The RAC website has a fantastic fact sheet on what to do immediately after a car crash. I have printed it and put it in my glove box. You can find it here.
Popsugar recently published an article about the benefits of getting rid of junk. In an age of materialism and consumerism it's important not to let our lives and our homes get too cluttered. Here is a summary:
1. Clutter can inhibit your ability to think clearly; 2. Decluttering requires physical activity; 3. It reduces stress; 4. It increases productivity; 5. It motivates you to get organised in other areas of your life; 6. It can help your allergies; 7. Getting rid of things is therapeutic; and 8. It makes you happier. You can read the full article here.
According to Vital Wellness, the benefits of having a hobby include:
Relieves stress It's an opportunity to meet new people Stimulates the mind Boosts self-esteem You have fun! Hobbies are not just for sad, lonely or lame people. Did you know that Amanda Seyfried and Ashton Kutcher knit, Angelina Jolie collects daggers, Leonardo DiCaprio collected Star Wars figurines (which he sold for charity a few years ago) and apparently, Taylor Swift likes making snow globes. If you have a special someone - good for you. But if you find yourself flying solo this Valentine's Day, don't fret, you're not alone (well you kind of are but there are thousands of other people feeling lonely as well). When I was a teenager one of my favourite quotes was, a woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle. Books, movies, magazines and television would have you believe that having a boyfriend makes you happy and complete but this is not Hollywood! Love is not like in the movies. Don't get me wrong, love is great, but it requires a lot of compromise and work. So, if you're by yourself this Valentine's Day, get your single girlfriends together and do something special. Paint your nails, go out for ice cream, go on a picnic, have a movie marathon...
