It's time to start making some resolutions for the New Year. Here are some ideas:
1. Stop hating your body. 2. Be more grateful. 3. Complain less. 4. Move your body more. 5. Eat less sugar. 6. Spend more time talking to people in person. 7. Spend less time looking at a screen. 8. Smile more. 9. Criticize less. 10. Learn a new skill.

Pack a water bottle, some loose change and your phone, jump on your bike and go for a ride. For twice the fun, take a friend. Go somewhere scenic and take lots of photos. Treat yourself to an icecream on the way.
If your ATAR was not what you hoped for and too low to get you into your first preference at university DON'T PANIC. If you just missed out, you may get a second round offer. What Degree Which University has a helpful article with advice on how to get into your preferred degree. They also advise to accept an offer in case you end up with no offers at the end of the process.
According to an article in the Herald Sun earlier this month by Dr Michael Thorne, here are some alternatives: • Direct entry • Midyear entry • Using another university as a stepping stone • Attending a regional university campus (and transferring later, if you want) • Enrolling in a Diploma or Associate Degree • Studying online • Studying interstate • Studying overseas • Starting with a TAFE or polytechnic • Doing a single subject as a starting point • Using a pathway college, and • Enrolling with a private provider. If difficulties beyond your control affected your results (e.g. illness or disability) you can apply for Educational Access Schemes EAS. Contact your preferred university and check which alternate pathways are available. Most university websites have information on alternate pathways such as portfolio applications and bridging courses. Students in Western Australia have until the 5th January to apply or rearrange their preferences. It's the season for giving - here are some of the rules of etiquette for gifting.
FOR THE GIVER: 1. Invest in gift-wrapping. 2. Include a card, not a gift tag. 3. Do not regift to anyone in the same social circle. FOR THE RECEIVER: 1. Always read the card first. 2. Always open the card as soon as you get it so you can thank the giver straight away. 3. Be considerate when boasting about your gifts on social media. Try these cute pom pom baubles.
