Professor Michelle Yvonne Simmons was awarded the honour of Australian of the Year this year. She is a quantum physicist who, with her team, created the world’s first transistor made from a single atom, along with the world’s thinnest wire.
It's time to go back to school. Zucchini slice is a great school lunch or after school snack idea. You can find the written recipe here. 21 year old, Indigenous Australian tennis player, Ash Barty might be out of the Australian Open but we will hopefully be seeing more of her in the future. She went into the tournament ranked 17 in the world. Ash won the Wimbledon Junior title in 2011 but three years ago gave up tennis as she was homesick, exhausted and suffering from depression. She got treatment, went fishing and even played cricket for Queensland in the women's big bash league in 2015. In 2016 she decided to return to tennis and last year won the Newcombe Medal for the most outstanding Australian tennis player, male or female. You can read more about Ash at http://www.smh.com.au.
A new magazine hit the shelves last month called Teen Breathe. I finally managed to get my hands on a copy and read it from cover to cover. This magazine was a breath of fresh air - it included articles about Yoga for beginners, sugar, meditation, journaling and an origami project with paper. For a sneak peak inside, check out their website here. Issue 2 will be on sale on 1st March. You can also subscribe.
