The food we eat can affect our memory, mood, ability to think and mental health.  Omega-3 rich foods are really important for healthy brain function.  These include fish, seeds (flax and chia), nuts (walnuts and spinach. These need to be eaten as part of a diet rich in vegetables and fruits especially green leafy vegetables and berries. For more information check out this Huffington Post article.

My favourite way to have salmon is sushi nigiri and Bill Granger's glazed salmon with brown rice.  You can find the recipe on Lisa's Little Library.

Often we use food as a reward or for comfort when we're stressed.  While it makes you feel good in the short term, all that chocolate, cake, chips and other junk food can have a negative effect on your waistband. Not to mention the guilt that follows after you've just polished off that packet of Tim Tams.
Here are some non-food ways to reward yourself when you've stuck to your goals or to boost your mood when you feel down:
* watch an episode of your favourite TV show or a good movie
* read a good book
* go to the beach
* pamper yourself with a manicure or pedicure
* soak in the bath (music and candles optional)
* turn the music up and dance like no one's watching
* go shopping and buy yourself a little treat - a magazine, costume jewellery, fun socks etc.
* go for a bike ride
* grab a friend and go to the movies.

This is a couple of years old but the message is still the same.  It's from Canada and they don't even have a jolly big hole in the ozone layer over there. Melanoma is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in young people in Australia.  Check out Sunsmart.com.au for more information.

Check out these Sugar-free Easter Treats from the I Quit Sugar website.

If going sugar free is not your thing, try having a small serve of chocolate each day.  The key word here is small.   A large Easter Bunny can have over 1000 calories!  A bag of smaller eggs is easier to eke out and you'll be less likely to eat them all at once.  Dark chocolate also has more health benefits than milk or white varieties. I'm a sucker for Link Dark Mint chocolate.

I love this Girls Make Your Move by the Department of Health.  You don't have to look good in Lycra to exercise.  In fact, if you don't look good in Lycra, you probably need to exercise more.  You don't have to be athletic or o-ordinated even.  There's a sport out there for everyone.

According to Vital Wellness, the benefits of having a hobby include:
Relieves stress
It's an opportunity to meet new people

Hobbies are not just for sad, lonely or lame people.  Did you know that Amanda Seyfried and Ashton Kutcher knit, Angelina Jolie collects daggers, Leonardo DiCaprio collected Star Wars figurines (which he sold for charity a few years ago) and apparently, Taylor Swift likes making snow globes.
