I have to admit that I find it hard to get motivated to get up and moving in winter. I want to just huddle under my blanket and veg out. But there are things that you can do to stay active during winter without getting wet and cold. I enjoy grabbing my raincoat and umbrella and going for a walk in the rain with the dog in Winter. Go for a walk and really notice the things around you. These photos are from my morning walks. I love noticing the rough bark of a tree, the intricacy of a flower, the colours the sky turns as the sun rises, each unique colour in a rainbow, the clouds, the kookaburras singing and the magpies warbling.

Taking your shoes off and walking barefoot in the natural environment is called grounding or earthing. Some of the benefits of grounding include:
  • Lower stress hormones
  • Decrease in anxiety and depression
  • Better sleep
  • Releases tension
  • Improved immune system
  • Increased sense of well-being
So, what are you waiting for? Just be careful of prickles.

Many parks have free gym equipment that you can use. If you're not sure how to use the equipment you can find a tutorial on YouTube. Fresh Air Fitness has a helpful tutorial with a cute British accent.

It's spring - the weather is warming up and flowers are blooming. Go for a walk in your local park, bushland or neighbourhood and photograph the flowers you find. You don't need any fancy equipment - most smartphones have a decent camera. Here are some photos I snapped recently.
