Hugh van Cuylenburg spent a few months living and volunteering in India in 2008. Despite the fact that the villagers didn't have very much the were very happy. When Hugh got back to Australia he continued his studies and worked out that the key to the villager's happiness was gratitude, empathy and mindfulness. He wrote a book called The Resilience Project and now there is an app. It is only $4.49 and is available on android and iTunes. You can find out more about it in the video below.

This is possibly the best book for teens that I have ever read. For those of you who don't know who Turia Pitt, she was badly burned by a grassfire while she was running a 100km ultra-marathon in outback Australia. Her story of recovery is inspirational and amazing. Turia describes herself as an athlete, author and mindset coach. As the subtitle suggests, Good Selfie is full of tools to help teenagers. There are chapters on gratitude, confidence, self talk, champs (goals), hard times, support team and perspective. The book is full of awesome stories from Turia's life and advice to help you live your best life. It is also bright and beautifully presented with illustrations by Freda Chiu. I loved it!
