You know that feeling when you're stuck in a bad mood and you know you're sending out bad vibes left right and centre but you just don't seem to be able to snap out of it. Sometimes you don't even know why you're moody. There are things that you can do to boost your happy chemicals. While these things don't miraculously make your life all rainbows, sunshine and unicorns, they can help lift your mood. You can print out a copy of this poster to stick on your wall at home. Check out www.healthline.com for more information.

The Mindfulness Journal is available from Kmart for just $9. This great little book is full of mindful exercises and quotes. It is beautifully presented in full colour and would make a great gift. You could do a new mindful exercise each day in five to ten minutes. I love it!

A healthy diet is an important part of your mental health toolkit because what you eat affects your physical and mental health. Christmas and New Year is traditionally a time of overindulging in unhealthy treats. Try to include lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains and protein in your diet - your body and mind will thank you. Limit sugar and saturated fats which are often found in fast foods. I'm not suggesting that you give up sugar and fast food altogether—I'm just suggesting you cut back a bit. If you do have a fast food, choose a small meal instead of a large one, choose a hamburger or wrap with lots of salad and skip the fries. Cutting out sugary soft drinks is great for your health. Try water with a slice of lemon, cucumber, or some berries in it.
