A jigsaw is a great way to take a break from your screens, spend some time with friends or family and relax. I have a weakness for Disney jigsaws. Did you know you can borrow jigsaws from your local library?

Get your friends together, tell them to bring their water pistols and water balloons and have a water fight. Make sure you pick up the empty water balloons afterwards, especially if you hold your water fight at the park. Also, be careful of Mum's washing or innocent bystanders at the park.

Grab some girlfriends and have a DIY Day Spa at home one day.  You will need face scrub, face mask, hair mask, towels and face cloths, nail polish, nail polish remover, nail files, cotton buds, scented candle (just don't burn the house down) and some good music.  I love these Organik Botanik products from Myer. If you are just having a day spa for one or two they have pamper packs with three products in.

It's school holidays in Western Australia.  Even though the weather is a bit ugly, rug up and get out of the house. Here are some ideas to get you out and about:
  • Winter Wonderland in Fremantle and Hillaries features outdoor ice skating rink and snow playground.
  • Fremantle Arts Centre has a wheel throwing clay course for teens.
  • The Fremantle Chocolate Market is on at the Esplanade Hotel on Saturday, 15th July.  Free entry.
  • Learn to do Pilates.  The following studios offer teen classes - Pilates Fitness Institute, Breath Pilates Studio, Mind Body Heart.  Some local community sports centres offer teen classes too such as Melville.
  • Make it your mission to find the best hot chocolate in your city.  Grab a friend, jump on the bus or train and try somewhere new each day. The Urban List has some ideas.
  • Photoh run photography courses for teenagers.  A DSLR is preferable but you can just bring your smartphone.

It's summer in the Southern Hemisphere so if you want to escape the heat why not head to your local Ice Skating Rink.  You can find a list of rinks in Australia at www.ozskater.com. Most of them offer lessons too.

Be a tourist in your own town.  Grab a friend, your purse and your phone/camera, hop on a bus or train and explore where you live.  Try to capture interesting or unusual photos.  Go to a suburb, park or beach you have never been to before.

Pack a water bottle, some loose change and your phone, jump on your bike and go for a ride.  For twice the fun, take a friend. Go somewhere scenic and take lots of photos. Treat yourself to an icecream on the way.
