Did you know that sweat actually doesn't smell?  It's bacteria that lives on the skin which causes body odour.  Here are some tips to reduce body odour:
  • Wash with soap and warm water once a day, especially under your arms.
  • Use deodorant. If you want to be extra healthy, opt for an aluminium free one.
  • Wear clothing made of natural fibres like cotton rather than polyester.
  • Change and wash your clothes regularly.

It's important for young people to have adults in their lives other than their parents who they can talk to and spend time with.  Maggie Dent refers to these people as lighthouses as they help guide the way.  These people can be grandparents, aunties, teachers, coaches, friend's parents, youth pastors...  If you haven't got someone you would consider a lighthouse, try to find one.  Being a teenager is hard work sometimes and it's good to have someone to talk to.

Ironing might be a bit of a drag but it's an important life skill that everyone should master.  Here are a couple of tips:
  • Set the temperature of the iron according to the fabric that you are ironing (unless you want to melt your delicate fabrics).  Check the label of your garment to be sure.
  • Spraying your clothes with water helps get the wrinkles out and is cheaper than fabulon and other ironing aids.
  • Turn clothing with prints inside out to iron. Alternatively you can use a cloth (a t-towel or handkerchief will do).
  • Hang shirts on a hanger when wet to make them easier to iron.
  • Don't iron clothing while you are wearing it - a girl at my school actually tried this and got a nasty burn.

Check out this video from Rachel Ballinger (she's a bit crazy but if anyone else can find a better how-to-iron tutorial let me know.

Never, never, never take pictures of yourself naked and share them, even if everyone else is doing it.  Having an explicit picture on your phone of someone under the age of 18 is considered child pornography and can result in a jail term or being placed on the sex offender register. One 14 year old boy downloaded a video of a girl his age having sex and shared it with students at his school.  He was charged with child pornography offences.  For more information checkout the Lawstuff Australia website.
