She was named one of Time Magazines Most Influential Teens of the Year in 2015, has just won America's Dancing with the Stars and graces the cover of the January issue of Women's Weekly but Bindi has had her fair share of critics. Whether you love her or hate her she has crammed a lot into her 17 years. I admire her attitude that no matter what happens in life, you can still choose to be happy. I also love the fact that she is so real and down to earth.

A couple of years ago the Huffington Post blog published a list of 5 Attainable New Year's Resolutions for Every Teen. I think they're great and might even add them to my list. They are:
Read More Books
Offer someone an act of kindness
Do something you wouldn't normally do
Find a place where you can get involved
Spend time with your family.

When you are happy, you smile and apparently, when you smile, you are happy. Psychologists have found that even faking a smile can make you feel happier and help you deal with difficult situations. So next time you find yourself in a stressful situation, grin and bear it! For more information see Andrew Merle's article, The Science of Smiling, in the Huffington Post.

It's normal to feel angry but some ways of dealing with your anger are better than others. Yelling, swearing, punching walls and throwing things rarely ends well. Here are some anger management techniques according to live strong.com:
Walk away, perhaps even go for a walk
Listen to some music
Write down your feelings
Talk to someone you trust
Distract yourself.

You might have heard Alessia Cara's song, Here, on the radio. Check out this one, Scars to Your Beautiful. Here are the lyrics for the chorus:
There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are
And you don't have to change a thing
The world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful.
There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are
And you don't have to change a thing
The world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful.
